CCTV footage of Sanjay Roy, the accused in the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College, has surfaced.
The footage, obtained by News18 Bangla, shows Roy walking through the hospital corridor on August 9, shortly before the crime.
He is seen wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and holding a Kolkata Police helmet. He is also carrying a Bluetooth device that was later found at the crime scene and linked to his phone.
The footage was pivotal in leading to Roy’s arrest. During questioning, he confessed to the crime.
The CBI, which has taken over the investigation, has described him as a "sexual pervert" and noted his lack of remorse.
The Kolkata Police had previously discovered significant amounts of pornographic content on his phone.
The case has triggered widespread protests, vandalism at the hospital, and the removal of its principal.
The Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation to the CBI on August 13, enhancing scrutiny and oversight of the case.
